“What now? I’m overwhelmed as it is…”
“How do I handle all of this?”
“Why does this keep happening?”
Sometimes, when we’re really stressed or facing tough times, we might feel like things are hopeless. For example, the events of the past few years may have caused unexpected changes, added stress to your relationships, or affected your mood in ways you don’t like.
As a result, going through these experiences can make you feel lonely, scared, or very tired. But is it hopeless?
Definitely not, even if it feels that way.
You might have thought, “Everyone seems to be dealing with something right now. So, why should I get help?”
One of many answers:
Everyone sees life in their own way. While you might have similar experiences as others, your perspective is unique. Everything you’ve been through shapes how you see things. You have the right to make positive changes in your life if you choose to.

You deserve a healthy, happy life. Seeking help through counseling shows strength and determination. Although you already have inner strengths, an unbiased, external support system can help you make the best use of those strengths.
Here are some signs that it might be time to seek help:
- You’ve lost sleep, felt frozen by fear or anxiety, or been distracted because your thoughts are always on a stressor or another person.
- You’ve felt hopeless about changes in your life, including relationships, work, or home life.
- You’re giving up a lot of yourself. Your social life might be suffering. Maybe your friendships or romantic relationships have become strained or distant.
- You’re noticing that today’s stress is bringing up things from your past that you haven’t fully dealt with before.
-
You feel so overwhelmed by society, information, and news that you almost want to live alone in a cabin in the woods.
- Finally, it might seem like you’ve tried everything to handle things on your own with no result. Or perhaps you just don’t know where to start.
